The Student Lens: The Sharlynne Interview
Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Student Lens series. Today, I will be chatting with Sharlynne, a student who has shown her determination, consistency, and power through showcasing herself in many incredible ways while attending Elemental Studios. I am super excited to interview her and talk about her experience as a student at the studio. So, let's get to know her, shall we?
Before we get into the interview, let's learn a little bit about Sharlynne.
"My name is Sharlynne, and I am a mom and an entrepreneur. I am currently in the process of starting my own firm and finding some work-life balance. Taking classes at Elemental Studios has been my favorite way to prioritize myself."
Let's get into the interview!
1. How did you find out about Elemental Studios?
Sharlynne: "I first found out about Elemental Studios through a friendship mixer in Denver. I attended a class with someone I met at the mixer and instantly loved it."
2. What was your 1st class at Elemental, and how was that experience for you?
Sharlynne: "My first class was Beginner Heels. I was nervous at first since I didn't have any dance background, but the class just felt so welcoming and accepting."
3. How did you start your dance journey?
Sharlynne: "I've done traditional Filipino dancing in the past, but had no actual dance training. Dance has always been an interest of mine, but I felt I was too shy and awkward. Elemental's Beginner Heels class was the first class I've ever taken."
4. What do you look forward to the most when coming to Elemental Studios?
Sharlynne: "I look forward to letting go of everything that happened throughout the day and my responsibilities. It's a chance to just focus on me."
5. What is a random fun fact you would like us to know about you?
Sharlynne: "After 6 years of working for different accounting firms, I'm finally taking the leap to start my own!"
6. Do you have any favorite classes at the moment? If so, what are they?
Sharlynne: "My current fave class is Nova's Sexy Floorwork class. It's a great way to lean into my sensuality."
7. Do you have any dance goals for yourself this year?
Sharlynne: "My goal for the year is to be more confident. I have a two-year-old, and I still have a hard time being comfortable in my mom bod."
8. What makes you feel the most confident when dancing?
Sharlynne: "I feel the most confident when I have my heels on. Something about having them on just makes me feel like a different person."
9. Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of dance?
Sharlynne: "I'm a huge foodie, and I love trying new cuisines. I love to challenge myself by cooking food I didn't grow up eating."
10. What would you tell someone if they wanted to attend Elemental Studios but weren't sure?
Sharlynne: "I would tell them it's a great way to step out of your comfort zone and really challenge yourself physically and mentally."
